How to Register

To register for this event, simply click on this link and you will be redirected to the official QDS Hacks 2023 Eventbrite page where you will need to purchase a ticket.

Teams must have a minimum of 3 people, with 2 computing students and 1 business student. The maximum team size allowed will be 6. We suggest your team include at least (1) developer, (1) business expert, and (1) designer. If you don't have a team, no need to worry. We can place you on a team that needs team members or join our Discord channel to find a group.

Dates 

All members are to arrive before 5:00 pm on Friday, January 6th, 2023, at the BCIT Burnaby Campus in SE2. After your arrival and registration, there will be a short icebreaker where you will get a chance to meet with mentors from various industries as well as your competition. Your team will then be given the problem and set of data, it's time to start hacking!

Saturday, January 7th, is dedicated to more hacking time. Teams will have the opportunity to spend all day working on their projects; meals will be provided.

Final projects are to be submitted to the judges no later than noon on Sunday, January 8th, 2023. Judges will review all the projects and announce the winners at 3:00 pm.

5:00 pm | Day 1 begins and starts with presentations from BCITSA and Teck

5:30 pm | Hackathon Begins (snacks will be available)

6:00 pm | Dinner

9:00 pm | Event ends and participants are asked to return the next day

 

Saturday, January 7th

8:00 am | Day 2 begins with breakfast available

1:00 pm | Lunch

6:00 pm | Dinner

 

Overnight to Sunday, January 8th

8:00 am | Breakfast

12:00 pm | Hacking stops, submissions due, Preliminary judging begins

2:00 pm | Final Judging and presentations

4:00 pm |  Winners announced, Final wrap up

Eligibility

Anyone is eligible for this event. 

Project and Submission Requirements

  1.  At the end of the 3-day hack, you will be required to submit a zipped folder of your project
  2. Provide a link to where the project is hosted (if applicable)
  3. Provide a link to the GitHub repository
  4. Be ready to present your findings and solution
